AR seizes IMFL in Dimapur
Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): “Based on specific intelligence regarding illegal activities in general area Burma Camp, Dimapur,” troops of Assam Rifles along with police representative launched an operation and apprehended one Kanhaiya Kumar, age 25 yrs, r/o Motihari, Bihar. According to a press release from the AR, IFML worth 3.5 lakh were seized. The apprehended person along with recovered items was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
CHC Aboi sealed

DDCF welcomes NCD new team
Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens' Forum (DDCF) has expressed hope to the new team of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) that they would strive and work harder for the all round welfare of Dimapur and all its citizens irrespective of religion, colours and all manmade identities. “Dimapur, being a place where people from all walks of life live in, it will be of a herculean task to sail it smoothly. However, it is our hope that the new team of NCD will strive for the best keeping aside all differences and take the whole Dimapurians forward to a better ground,” DDCF Media Cell stated in a press release. While congratulating the NCD new team, DDCF also extended their cooperation to make Dimapur a better place to live in.
NNC & FGN to observe 57th Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day
Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will observe the 57th Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day on September 6 at 10:00 am at Transit Peace Camp, Kohima. This was stated in a press release issued by Thihü Khamo, Secretary, FGN. It also added that “the NNC/FGN shall continue to uphold it. Therefore all fellow Nagas are requested to offer a prayer on this historic day.”
PAC condemns kidnapping
Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC) has condemned the kidnapping case by NSCN/GPRN (K) cadres on August 27.
“At this crucial juncture of political negotiations it is very much uncalled for,” the PAC Media Cell said in a press release on August 29.
While appreciating the Police personnel for their immediate action in arresting the culprits, we demand that the judiciary should not grant bail, but due punishment should be awarded as per the law of the land, it added.
Chief Minister condoles
Kohima, August 29 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has mourned the demise of Dietho Pfukha who passed away on August 29 in Dimapur.
In a condolence message on Saturday, the Chief Minister stated that Pfukha was not only “exemplary in carrying out his duties and responsibilities in his line of service,” but also made significant contributions to society.
“I remember him as a cheerful, friendly person, who would readily assist anyone in need, regardless of social status,” Rio said.
His death is a great loss not only to members of the family but also to the society, Rio added, while conveying condolences on behalf of his family.
NSCN (IM) mourns
Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has mourned the demise of Sergeant Major (Posthumous) Lunglaingam Thaimei of Phungtha Brigade, Naga Army, from Ganglon village under Zeilad Region on August 27.
It said Thaimei, who joined the Naga national service in 2015 “served the Naga nation with unwavering patriotism until his demise.”
“For his selfless contribution to the Naga national cause, his name shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history and his sacrifices for the Naga nation shall ever be cherished by all,” it said in a condolence message issued through the MIP, NSCN (IM).
The NSCN (IM) conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and friends and prayed that the departed soul rest in peace.
YAA, Tohanba condoles
DIMAPUR, August 29 (MExN): The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) has mourned the demise of sub-treasurer (Chessore) K Among Yimchunger, YAA sub treasurer (Chessor) on August 25. A native of Huker village, K Among also served the office of YAA as the Vice President from 1975-78. “He led an illustrious life and was gentle and genial to all. His contribution to the community and advice shall ever be cherished,” the YAA said in a statement. It conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Former MLA R Tohanba also condoled the demise of K Among, who he said, was one of the pioneers of Yimchunger Students Conference. He also served in the GB Union Chessore area and took on the role of General Secretary, GBs Union Tuensang District, besides various other roles and responsibilities in several student bodies, churches, civil society organizations as well as political parties, Tohanba said in a statement. Stating that the Yimchunger community has lost a great leader, Tohanba conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
GPRN/NSCN discharges one
Dimapur, August 29 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has discharged L/Corp Hopongmola, of Tobu village, Konyak Region, from active service of Naga Army on grounds of ‘health ailment,’ as per an office order released by Camp Commander, GHQ, Naga Army, on August 11. This was informed in a very much praisewpress release from the GPRN/NSCN MIP on August 29. “The service rendered during her stint in the national service isorthy and acknowledged. Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN wishes her a healthy and prosperous future,” the release stated.
